Industries we serve

Insurance for contractors, certificates that keep jobs moving.

General and specialty trade contractors need coverage that satisfies general contractors, owners and lenders, and certificates issued fast enough to keep jobs moving.

The risks that matter most.

Construction contracts shift risk downstream, usually to you. Additional insured status, primary and non-contributory wording and waivers of subrogation all have to match what you signed, or you may be paying for someone else's claim.

We place core coverage for residential and commercial contractors of every size, and coordinate it so your auto, liability and umbrella limits connect.

Coverage we typically recommend

We also place inland marine for tools and equipment, builder's risk for projects under construction, and license, bid, performance and payment bonds.

Spec insight: Additional insured, primary and non-contributory, and waiver of subrogation wording must match the contract. We check it before you sign, not after.

Questions

Contractors insurance questions.

What insurance do contractors need?

Most contractors need general liability, workers' compensation, commercial auto and often an umbrella. Many also need inland marine for tools and equipment, and bonds to bid or get licensed.

How fast can I get a certificate of insurance?

Once coverage is in place, send us the certificate holder and contract requirements. We'll confirm any endorsements needed and issue the certificate as quickly as possible.

Do I need workers' comp if I only use subcontractors?

Possibly. If a subcontractor doesn't carry its own workers' comp, the carrier may charge their payroll to your policy at audit, and some states can treat uninsured subs as your employees. Collect current certificates from every sub.
